GMDR was not founded from a boardroom or a business plan. It was founded because Magdalena could not turn away from the Dobermanns she saw suffering — misunderstood, mistreated, overlooked, and discarded by a world that feared what it did not understand.
With years of experience living with and caring for Dobermanns, Magdalena knows this breed at its finest and its most vulnerable. She knows what it takes to help a traumatised dog find trust again. She knows the difference between a dog that is dangerous and a dog that has simply never been shown that humans can be safe.
Greater Manchester Dobermann Rescue CIO was formally registered as a charity in 2026 — Charity No. 1217440 — a milestone that represents years of dedication, learning, and belief that these dogs deserve better.
Magdalena runs GMDR personally, alongside a small but devoted team of volunteers. She reads every application. She oversees every placement. She is available to every foster carer at any hour. This is not a large rescue with a processing team — it is personal, hands-on, and built on the conviction that every Dobermann is worth fighting for.

Every dog is fully assessed, loved, and rehomed only when we are certain it is right.
Our dogs live in homes — not kennels. This is non-negotiable.
Every dog rehomed through GMDR comes with lifetime aftercare support for their adopter.
